FRENCH LANGUAGE EDUCATOR SCHOLARSHIP/SUPPORT FUND PROGRAM

To address the growing shortage of French teachers throughout the state of Oklahoma, L’Alliance Française d’Oklahoma City created the French Language Educator Scholarship/Support Fund.  We are grateful to Mrs. Barbara Thompson, who founded this program to encourage, recognize and provide financial support for Oklahoma’s future French teachers.

Established in 2022, this endowed fund at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation provides a $1,500 scholarship annually to support a student who is studying to become a French educator in Oklahoma. The college student must be enrolled in an accredited teacher education program in French at one of the following institutions:

Oklahoma State University         University of Central Oklahoma         University of Oklahoma

The scholarship funds can be used for required courses in the French Department, the College of Education or to study abroad in a Francophone country.

The French Language Educator Scholarship provides funds for a college student enrolled in an accredited teacher education program in French at an Oklahoma University who is studying to become a French educator in Oklahoma. This is a one-time payment of $1,500.00 to the university the student is attending. These funds are available to pay for French and Education classes as well as to study abroad in a French speaking country. Students may re-apply each year.
