ELEANOR KIRKPATRICK FRANCO-AMERICAN FELLOWS PROGRAM

Established and administered by the AFdOKC since 2009, this annual student exchange program offers an exciting opportunity for Central Oklahoma French language students to conduct an expense paid, two-week research project in France, while attending school in France and being hosted by their Hauts de France region peers. In exchange, selected French students from Hauts de France are hosted by their American peers while they attend a central OK school to conduct their research.

This life changing program encourages global awareness and understanding of international lifestyles through cultural exchange and academic study.

This flagship program is a joint project between the Alliance Française d’Oklahoma City and the Académie d'Amiens in Amiens, France with the support of the Oklahoma State Department of Education. All annual funding for OK students comes from our Oklahoma City Community Foundation endowment fund disbursement and contributions from supporters like you.

FRANCO-AMERICAN FACULTY EXCHANGE PROGRAM

Established and administered by the AFdOKC in 2022, this faculty exchange program offers an exciting chance for Central Oklahoma French language teachers to participate in an expense paid, intensive two-week professional development immersion opportunity in France, while attending a school and being hosted by their Hauts-de-France region peers.

Three teachers were chosen to participate in this inaugural year of our program.  In exchange, selected French teachers from Hauts de France will be hosted by their Oklahoma peers while they attend a central OK school for their development.

Educators connected with their French counterparts to learned new approaches to education, classroom methodologies, and shared their respective cultures.  Our students, schools, and community will benefit from their experience, newly acquired skills, reinvigorated passion for teaching, and global perspective.  This program was made possible through funding from AFdOKC, Kirkpatrick Family Fund and AFUSA.

FRENCH LANGUAGE EDUCATOR SUPPORT FUND PROGRAM

Established in 2022 and administered by the AFdOKC, the French Language Educator Support Fund program awards a scholarship to a student enrolled in an accredited teacher education program in French at an Oklahoma University. AFdOKC’s Mrs. Barbara Thompson created this program to encourage, recognize and provide financial support for our future French teachers.

OUTSTANDING FRENCH STUDENT PROGRAM

Established and administered by the AFdOKC in 2020, the Alliance Française d’Oklahoma City have developed an annual Outstanding French Student Awards Program.

We not only recognize students’ dedication to French studies, but also the high quality of the French Program at their schools and the fine work of their teachers.  For more information or if you have any questions about this program, please contact the Outstanding French Student Program Chair, Anne Chamberlain at outstanding.afdokc@gmail.com.

This year the Alliance Française d’Oklahoma City is honored to recognize 22 students from across the Oklahoma City metro with Outstanding French Student Awards.

JEUNESSE STUDENT GROUP PROGRAM

This program is a student youth group run by students and a French teacher advisor. This group was created to tailor activities to teen students who have an interest in French language, culture and having fun! Students are from public, private, and home schools and support each other in their studies, enjoy French cultural activities and connect with students from around the U.S. and France. This group is led by a student core team to share responsibilities including leader, deputy. communications and social media.

The jeunesse group provides a much-needed source of teen French activities and support since many high school French Clubs have lost funding and have fewer numbers. The program has been successful with student members joining for a steeply discounted rate and enjoying a variety of activities that interest them such as film watch parties, teen conversation groups and cultural events.
